Mahanth Mahadevanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Ara
Mahanth Mahadevanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Ara, popularly known as Mahila College, Ara is the only constituent unit of higher education for women of Bhojpur district. This college comes into existence on 9th. July 1959.
Previously there was not even a single centre of higher education for the girl Students of old Shahabad district, which has been split into four districts today. Taking into account the problems regarding girls education. Citizens of Ara felt the need of opening a centre for girls higher education. It was in this process that a meeting of a few most selected and reputed personalities was held on November 5. 1958. in order that the women�s higher education should be started at Ara headquarters of then Shahabad district, a thoughtful planning was made regarding its means and resources, for this purpose a governing body was formed and Sri Ram Naresh Singh was made its Co-ordinator.
Women education is highly required for the holistic development of a society, Mahanth Mahadevanand Giri, a far sighted man, realized this fact and announced a liberal charity for this pious enterprise. He generously donated in cash and kind for the establishment of this college.
