Mahanth Mahadevanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Ara, popularly known as Mahila College, Ara is the only constituent unit of higher education for women of Bhojpur district. This college came into existence on 9th July 1959.
Previously there was not even a single centre of higher education for the girl students of old Shahabad district, which has now been divided into four districts.
