Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

As per UGC Regulations 2015 & Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2013

In pursuance of the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2015, read with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is constituted to deal with complaints relating to sexual harassment at the workplace.

Functions of ICC

Upon receiving a complaint, ICC shall conduct a preliminary enquiry by collecting documentary evidence and recording statements of witnesses including the complainant. The report shall be submitted to the Principal along with all original documents. If the complaint is not related to sexual harassment, ICC may refer it to the Grievance Redressal Cell.

ICC shall follow procedures laid down in UGC Regulations 2015 & the Sexual Harassment Act, ensuring confidentiality and a time-bound inquiry.

Who Can Approach ICC?

Any female employee (faculty, student, or non-teaching staff) may approach ICC for redressal.

Definition of Sexual Harassment

“Sexual harassment” includes unwelcome sexually inclined behaviour such as physical advances, sexual favours, sexually coloured remarks, showing pornography, or any verbal/non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.

Caveat

Complaints must not be made frivolously or with malicious intent. Misuse of ICC can lead to punitive action under UGC Regulations 2015.
